The War on the Blue Menace was a national campaign, spearheaded by Captain Andries van Oudorp of the guard of Stadt Taktwinkel with the aim to reducing the trade in denim shorts in the Confoederatio Aemilia. The war started when a man, who had entered the city the day before wearing a stylish business suit, decided to stroll through the city wearing ill-fitting denim shorts exposing his hairy white legs. Distressed inhabitants called the guard which started a full inquiry. As part of the inquiry, guardsmen travelled to Stadt Sankt Rosa where they visited the clothing shop of Daisy Levi. Andries van Oudorp was shocked by what he saw, not only did the shop sell unflattering denim shorts, cargo pants were stashed to the ceiling, many of them made out of polyester. With the store being located in Sankt Rosa, the city guard of Taktwinkel had no authority to take action and had to leave a gleeful Daisy Levi.

In the days that followed, Andries van Oudorp sought an audience with Princess Emilia Antoinette, who was not as shocked as he was, and even admitted to wearing denim shorts herself one time to the Sankt Rosa Rainbow March. But as she loved Andries dearly, she relented and allowed him to spent a few hours every week on countering the 'blue menace' as he called these shorts for men.
