Sempyovajj Mine Company
The Sempyovajj Mine Company, established 13.III.1730 AN, is a directly owned subsidiary of ESB Sathrati, a trading arm of the Benacian Directorate of the Honourable Company. The company is operating within the bailiwick of Sempyovajj on the island of Yardistan, a subject of the Emirate of Sathrati.
Background
Alongside sources of the ore which could be found in Apollonia, the interior of Yardistan was one of the locations where the Shirerithian Supplies Service and ESB Group had mined the uranium which would be subsequently refined down to a useable purity for inclusion in the main devices of the strategic demonstration known as Operation Tymarian Sun.
A great deal of what was known about the previous mining operations was lost during the chaos of the Kalirion Fracture and the mines themselves were permitted to fall into a state of disrepair.
Management
The Chief Factor appointed by ESB Sathrati to serve as representative officer in charge of the company was François Luckner, a citizen of Western Natopia with Alexandrian ancestry.
Operations
The Council of Sathrati granted Sempyovajj Mine Company expedited permits and concessions to commence uranium mining in the interior of Yardistan with minimal oversight or environmental impact studies. This hasty approval process raised concerns from local communities about potential risks of radiation exposure and contamination of water sources. Moreover manorial lords and plantation owners in the areas affected protested what they regarded as inadequate consultation by the Council.
