In the year 1717 AN, the government of Vegno submitted a formal application for access of the Republic to the Raspur Pact. The official request was signed both by the President of the Republic Mickey Lange Levati and the Prime Minister Marco Unno.

Background

The possibility of joining the Raspur Pact has always been considered one of the main foreign policy ideas of the Partito Nazionalista Vegnese. Its members often brought this proposal to parliament even during previous moderate-led governments, without however seeing the total coincidence of ideas with the political forces of the ex-majority.

Following the electoral scandal of 1716, the moderate forces lost considerable popular support, being relegated in the subsequent elections of 1717 to a role of little opposition and leaving total leadership of the country to a highly voted PNV together with the allies of the PF. The PNV-led government immediately set off with internal policy proposals linked to an important nationalism and national identity with considerable investments in the military sphere; at the level of foreign policy, the first proposal brought to parliament in the new legislature was precisely the request to join the Raspur Pact, on which the government also raised the question of trust. The proposal was greatly approved by the Assemblea Nazionale, also receiving support, contrary to expectations, from the Forza Vegno party, while considerable criticism was received from the left opposition of the PC and the PDC.

Progress of application

At the time of writing, the application has been submitted and is awaiting a response.
