Kriegskorps Tatschanka Kompanie
The Kriegskorps Tatschanka Kompanie is an experimental company within the Kriegskorps Ludwigshafen of Sankt Ludwigshafen. The company uses armoured wagons drawn by two donkeys per wagon, outfitted with heavy machine guns in the back. The Tatschanka Kompanie is the first effort of the armed forces of the Republic of Sankt Ludwigshafen to establish armoured cavalry. The idea to create the Tatschanka Kompanie arose after the Ludwiggian-Monovian War, when the Kriegskorps was given the task to escort merchant convoys, from Stadt Sankt Ludwigshafen and Stadt Sankt Elonzo through the dangerous Lanzerwald. With the help of the tachankas, the units were able to return fire to ambushing tribal attackers, without stopping the convoy.
The company was given funding by the Nationalversammlung der Republik Sankt Ludwigshafen in XII.1703, first units were operational in XIII.1703 and funding is scheduled to be provided until XV.1713. In I.1713 the experiment will be evaluated by the general staff of the Kriegskorps Ludwigshafen and an advise will be given to the Nationalversammlung whether to give the tachanka a permanent position within the Ludwigshafener armed forces.
