Melchior Besserwisser is an ethnic Frankish (Germanian) AmokolianElwynnese historian and politician, affiliated with the Nationalist and Humanist Party since the Amokolian Reunification in 1685. Born in Frankfurt-am-Oder in 1660, he was educated at the Royal Julius Civilis University in 's Koningenwaarde 1678–1683 (graduated with a Master of Arts in History). He was active in historical research at the People's Academy in Anun, given the degree of doctor of philosophy in history in 1688 after publishing his thesis: The Politics of Maps: Amokolian Nationhood through the Ages. He republished his thesis, in an edited form, which became a bestseller in Amokolia. Using his fame, he joined the N&H and became a municipal bailiwick councillor for the N&H in Anun, and then elected to the Amokolian Senate in 1691. He became evermore famous for leading the opposition to the northern Elwynnese secession and supported the Union Defence Force in the Second Elwynnese Civil War.

He is married to the Sanillan Hapatika née Llayi-Katoni. He has a stepson with her, Tanilo (born 1689).
