Neu Ludwigshafen was a short-lived antarctic state that was founded in 1696, as a nation for the Ludwiggian people. Most of its inhabitants were refugees from Sankt Ludwigshafen that fled the Ludwigshafener Civil War in 1693, most of which were living in the capital Neu Ludwigshafen. Other South-Cibolan Saxon people unrelated to Sankt Ludwigshafen lived in Osthügel and Felsental, they were usually from Walstadt or Licht. Around six percent of the population was not Saxon but of Alexandrian descendance, calling themselves Louisians, which is Alexandrian for Ludwiggians. Neu Ludwigshafen was a democracy, with all citizens over the age of twenty-five having the right to vote in parliamentary elections on city and national level, although no elections were ever held. The national parliament, the Parlement der Republik was the highest institution and its president, the Präsident des Parlements, was considered the head of state. Day-to-day government was in the hands of a cabinet of ministers that would have been appointed by the parliament, and whose meetings would have been presided over by a Minister-President. The state confessed to adhere to the Ludwiggian Reformed Church, but did not prosecute or oppress other religions.
Neu Ludwigshafen never appeared on the MCS map. It was founded in the summer of 1696, but the virtually all members of the colony perished in the following winter, after being unsufficiently unprepared for the extreme cold of the Micran antarctic region. In Spring 1697 an expedition was sent by the Stadtparlement of the Third Republic of Sankt Ludwigshafen to recover survivors and assets. Two-hundred survivors were rescued and valuable assets belonging to the Osthügel Motorenwerke were recovered and brought back to Sankt Ludwigshafen.
