Amelia Rettich is the daughter of former stadtholder Adam Rettich of Sankt Ludwigshafen. In 1736 she started the company South Sea Flax to cater to the growing desire in the Aemilian fashion industry to use plant-based fibres instead of wool, because of sustainability concerns.
