The Labor Party of Alrig is a left-wing political party in Alrig. The party seeks to represent the working class.
Ideology
The Labor Party of Alrig is an openly socialist and democratic party. It advocates a national parliament which is elected by all citizens, progressive taxes, social security and universal healthcare. As an environmentalist party, it opposes expansion of Driftwood International Airport.
Status in Alrig
In Alrig only those who own at least 3 acres of land have a seat in the Council of Driftwood, effectively barring common laborers from being represented in the legislative process. The Council of Driftwood has so far rejected any calls for political reform. However during the presidential term of Hieronim Erazm, the Labor Party and labor unions were invited to regular meetings with the Council of Driftwood to reach consensus on socioeconomic matters. Following the election of Luo Dai relations between the Council of Driftwood and the Labor Party became more strained. In 1680 the Council issued a decree which was said to protect the right to free speech in Alrig for the first time, but also restricted it in ways relevant to the Labor Party. For example, the Labor Party's criticism of neighboring Jingdao was criminalized.
International
The Labor Party of Alrig is a member of the Micras Socialist International. Due to its affiliation with the Jingdaoese Nokarodo Faction, both the Socialist International and the Labor Party are considered to be hostile organisation by the Jingdaoese Empire and members of the Labor Party are persecuted in Jingdao.
