Background

The Hurmu civil conflict began after a power struggle between the Socialist–Umraist coalition, led by Annika Raudsepp, and the opposing factions, the Senate of the Lakes. The conflict led to widespread violence, instability, and a growing humanitarian crisis.

Timeline

  • 7.II.1720: Reports from Cardenas indicate that an intervention by the Federal Forces of Nouvelle Alexandrie to restore order in Huyenkula has been authorized.
  • 8.II.1720: The Nouvelle Alexandrie Embassy in Huyenkula authorizes the departure of all nonessential staff and their families, and makes public and private announcements that it is evacuating Nouvelle Alexandrie nationals, with an emphasis on women, minors, and children.
  • 8.II.1720: New Alexandrian forces are welcomed as they occupy the Southern District in the face of minimal resistance, as mounting popular frustration with the government finally boils over. The 210th Army is poised for a dash northwards towards Huyenkula and Kaupang.

Aftermath

The operation is still ongoing, and the impact of the intervention on the overall conflict remains to be seen.
