Race
Report
Rainy day in Cossa for the Vegnese GP, all 20 drivers decide to start with an intermediate tire given the wet but not soaked conditions of the track.
At the start, the two Enigmas have a good sprint and remain in the lead up to curve 1, only to be sensationally passed by an extraordinary Gywion who, after passing Schaffnaust in braking at turn 1, runs very well on turn 2 and takes the lead, also overcoming the poleman Hunt. Herbertson-Panner, who started from third place was immediately sucked into the center of the group after a disastrous start.
Already on lap 5 Treuenfeld suffers a mechanical problem and is forced to stop in the pits to avoid retiring but inevitably losing a lot of time and the same fate falls shortly after to Dawson. On lap 14 Cooper and Spettacolo collided as they fought for 11th position, damaging both their cars and forcing them to stop early.
The first twist of the race comes on lap 26 when Alexander, who was sailing steadily in 8th position, ended up long in turn 15 and against the barriers.
The rain, which at a certain point in the race seemed to have stopped, instead begins to increase in intensity, making the track much wetter and preparing for the use of extreme wet tires, even if no team takes the responsibility of making an additional stop, losing more time and forcing the drivers to finish the last 10 laps in very extreme conditions with intermediate tires.
On lap 39 we, unfortunately, witness the second crash of one of the two EMW Mondozoom, this time that of Soma who, because of the very complicated conditions, ends up off the track in the gravel without being able to restart; the VSC is exposed but no one takes the risk of a pit stop just 5 laps from the end of the race.
The first-ever Formula Micras race is won by Ddraig-Llywelyn Racing and the Calbain driver, Gywion, who manages to keep his head from the end of turn 2 of the first lap to the last of the 44 planned; the podium is completed by a great Khan who recovers from 10th position and Hunt, who sees an excellent pole position fade on Saturday with only a third step of the podium.
