Nouvelle Alexandrie has a sizeable minority of Hurmudans. Most of these are concentrated in South and North Lyrica. Their population is roughly 68,000 people. Their main cultural organization is the Templar Foundation. The Temple of the Lakes in Lausanne is their main cultural institution, and the headquarters of the Templar Foundation.
Prior to the conquest of the Heartland (Stormark's conquest of the Lyrican continent in the late 1400s), Hurmu controlled large parts of Lyrica, along with Lontinian and Crandish–Arminian tribes. However, with the arrival of Stormarkers, Hurmu was concentrated to a small part around the six Holy Lakes.
Hurmu was long dominated by Stormark, despite being independent or quasi-independent for several generations. When Hurmu's population was subjected to a genocide in the early years of the 17th century, in which 90% of Hurmu's population died, Stormark became the main jurisdiction of where Hurmudans were located.
After the collapse of Stormark in 1685, Hurmudans all over Lyrica migrated northwards to Lakkvia and the Hurmu Trust Territory, though some people remained in Lyrica – these form the Hurmudanic minority in Lyrica.
