History

The city was first settled by the Federal Kingdom of New-Batavia. In its modern form, it was founded in mid-2012 when the dependency of Lucerne was established by Mercury. The city is a major trading hub between Mercury and North Antarctica.

Geography

Lucerne is located to the north of the island, on the River Lucerne. The market square is located in the centre of the city, with the middle section of the square forming a dock. Trading ships in the dock usually sell their goods from the deck.

Economy

Lucerne is a vibrant trading hub populated by businessmen and seafarers. It relies heavily on Napian tourism and trade. A small group of Lucians brew their own beer, sold in most of the island's taverns.

Culture

The culture of Lucerne is based mainly on social gathering. The local football club Port Lucerne FC attracts crowds of over 3,000 for matches against fellow Lucians Charon Sharks FC. Lucerne has many public houses around the market square, ranging from the high class Napian Embassy Bar to the more downmarket taverns, the most notorious being The Seasick Pirate.
