The Natopian natopo (sign: ₦; code: NAN; also abbreviated N$ and referred to as the natopo, or sometimes Natopian dollar) is the official currency of the Bovic Empire of the Natopian Nation, and the Pentheral State of Athlon, subsequently adopted by the Bovic Kingdom of Drak-Modan, the Elwynnese Republic, Sanama, and the Unified Governorates of Benacia in the aftermath of the Kalirion Fracture of 1671. In Drak-Modan it may still be referred to as the erb and as the drachma in Athlon, both out of habit, whilst in the UGB it is typically referred to noncommittally as credit or script. In practice, the natopo is divided into 100 smaller cent (¢) units, but is occasionally divided into 1000 mills (₥) for accounting. The circulating paper money consists of Imperial Bank Notes that are denominated in Natopian natopos (C.C. §22). The Imperial Bank of the Natopian Nation prints and mints circulating currency.

By virtue of the collapse in value of the Imperial Stater and the Erb, official currencies of Constancia and Shireroth respectively, the natopo has become the de facto reserve currency of the Raspur Pact.

Bank Notes

Natopian bank notes feature abstract designs, reflecting Natopia's unique design aesthetic. The design of the natopo goes back to the early republic years of Natopia and aside from updated nomenclature, upgraded security features, has remained unchanged for over 150 AN years. They are printed with a special metallic dye that glows green (₦1 and ₦5 notes), blue (₦10 and ₦20, notes), or purple (₦50 and ₦100 notes) when viewed under special anti-counterfeiting lights. They are printed on a secret blend of Zeigish cotton and Klaasiyan linen paper coated with a chemical that reacts to special anti-counterfeit pens. The abstract designs on each denomination are embossed, for accessibility and addition counterfeiting protection.

Bank notes are printed in Imperial Bank Branches located in major cities Hazelwood (H), Butter Cow City (B), Klaasisitya (K), Triegon (T), Mehlville (M), Eadricton (E), Tirlar (TI), and Elijah's Rest (E). Natopos.PNG

Coins

Coins come in 5, 10, and 25 cent denominations. Fifty cent denominations are sometimes issued for commemorative purposes.

The one cent coin, a cross, features a profile of Nett Opaegh on the obverse with the Natopian motto, "Peace Through Silent Oppression," the year of minting and location. On the reverse is the Cross of Sovereignty and the word "NATOPIA."

The five cent, a tomee, coin features a three-quarter pose profile of Nathan Waffel-Paine on the obverse, the year of minting and location. On the reverse is an image of the Tomb of Nathan and the word "ATHANATOS."

The ten cent coin, a crown, features a profile of Nathaniel Ayreon-Kalirion on the obverse with the Natopian motto, "Peace Through Silent Oppression," the year of minting and location. On the reverse is an image of the Imperial Crown of Natopia and the words "OUR EMPEROR."

The twenty five cent coin, a yoke, features a profile of Asara Waffel-Paine on the obverse with the words, "Pray to the Holy Cow," the year of minting and location. On the reverse is an image of a Bovic yoke and the word "BOUS".

Fifty cent pieces have been issued in limited runs to commemorate various past emperors and statesmen on the anniversaries of their deaths including Gustav Lindstrom, sisters Tree and Cherry Haas, Aron Pavle, Chow Dhury, Joll Berry, Rian Grass, Lord Erion, Tom Biffo, Konrad von Zeck, Naian Waffel-Paine, and Zakyyr Angus-Moonoak.
