The 2023 Craitish Grand Prix, officially presented as the Formula Micras Craitish Grand Prix 2023, is a Formula Micras World Championship race that will be held on 28 May 2023 at the Hjarland Park, a motor racing circuit in the city of Hjardef, Craitland. It serves as the third race of the 2023 Formula Micras World Championship.

Background

The drivers and teams were the same as the season entry list.

It is be the third round of the 2023 Formula Micras World Championship. The race therefore took place in the home country of the CräiteAuto Grand Prix and represented the home Grand Prix for the driver Vorgeņ Brólt.

The 2022 edition saw the triumph of Max Treuenfeld, with Samira Khan and Toshio Sōma on the podium.

Tyre Choices

The two tyre manufacturers (Bouncy Rings and Vitesse) brought for this Grand Prix three choices of compounds for the teams: Supersoft (Red), Soft (Yellow), Medium (White).

Practice Session

The practice session was held at the Grand Prix lasting an hour in length; it was scheduled on 26 May 2023, and started at 15:00 local time, having the following situation:

Qualifying

As clarified by the regulations, the qualifying session took place on 27 May 2023, with a 3-manche sessions: the 15 fastest drivers had access to Q2, then the 10 fastest acceded to Q3, where they fought for pole-position.

Race

Report

Ben Lloyd starts from pole position, followed by Albrecht Kransk and Samira Khan. Max Treuenfeld completes the second row with Michele Spettacolo and Trent Cooper in the third one. Lloyd maintains the lead, while Kransk and Khan battle for second place. Treuenfeld overtakes Spettacolo and is close to the top three right from the start while Cooper and Sōma remain in sixth and seventh position with George Hunt, who started eleventh, gaining two positions at the start. Between the 15th and 20th laps, the top ten drivers make their first tire change. Lloyd, Kransk, Khan and Treuenfeld opt for medium tyres, while Spettacolo, Cooper, Sōma, Ottone Consigliario, Jason Rhodes and Francesco Giocatore choose soft tyres. Hunt remained on the track with supersoft tires and took the lead of the race, followed by Lloyd and Kransk. Khan, due to an error by one of his mechanics, lost time in the pit stop and slipped to fifth place, behind Treuenfeld.

On lap 25, Treuenfeld attacks Kransk and overtakes him for third place, while on lap 30, Hunt stops for his first pit stop and puts on medium tyres, returning to eighth position thanks to his excellent pace on worn tyres. Lloyd returns to the lead, with Treuenfeld following close behind. On lap 35, Treuenfeld attempted to overtake Lloyd, but the two touched and Lloyd spun, losing several positions. Treuenfeld continues in the lead, not being sanctioned by the race direction who considers the accident to be a race contact, with Kransk and Khan behind him. On lap 40, Cooper overtakes Spettacolo for fourth place and 5 laps later, Hunt, who has a faster pace than the others thanks to the newer tyres, overtakes Sōma, Spettacolo and Cooper, moving into fourth place. On lap 50, Vorgeņ Brólt, racing in his home grand prix, overtakes Giocatore and Rhodes, entering the points zone. On lap 55, Hunt also catches up with Khan and overtakes her for third place. During lap 60, Hunt closes in on Kransk and overtakes him for second place, while Treuenfeld remains in the lead, with a lead of around 2 seconds over Hunt with 4 laps to go.

Hunt progressively closes in on Treuenfeld and overtakes him easily during the penultimate lap, thus crossing the finish line first, winning his first race of the season. Treuenfeld finished second, getting his second podium of the season and two points for the fastest lap. Cooper overtakes Kransk on the last lap, clearly in tire trouble, and finishes third, completing the podium. Kransk thus had to settle for fourth place, ahead of Spettacolo, Rhodes and Iswlyn. Lloyd manages to recover up to ninth position after the spin, with Bròlt who, in his home race, defends himself from the latter and takes 8th place and his first points of the season.
