Lysstyrer or formally known as Lysstyrer Alliance is collection of semi-autonomous cantons which first record of independency as a single unified sovereign state around 1686. The country named itself as translated to Standard language, Light guider, after their unique technology involving glowing asteroid fragment found in northern area of Lysstyrer.

History

Geography

Smedberg

The Crater town, capital city of Lysstyrer. A center of heavy industry of the country, build into an old crater which now carved into gigantic open pit mine. Each level ofpit mine hold many industry complex and the city that support it operation. The most common mode of transportation in Smedberg is train and rail car.

Katteskogen

Forest where the cat live. An agriculture town. This district have the most cat in the country with cat to human ratio of 1.5:1. Outdoor cat can be found in many place. To avoid overpopulated, Katteskogen have free neuter service available every 6 month. Public food stall and cat house can be found around the community as service to the cat who keep pest population low.

Moonhaven

Maritime and aerospace town. Most of space industry, training and activity happening here. Hosting an amateur rocket event every year in summer time. Moonhaven have several shipyard, two massive drydock and icebeaker ship service. Moonhaven have many fjord and house boat are very common in the area.

Valkeamaki

A district with mixed of profession but mostly in textile, art and media production. Considering a city of the free spirit with strong anime and manga culture. Most of architecture of this town are build to be cozy but show the idea of the builder. Valkeamaki hold a big self publish media fair every year at the town square.

Winterhold

Military district. Most of Lysstyrer self defense force, militia and private defense contractor are trained here. Winterhold have annual milsim event where people can join a modern simulation war game and wilderness survival competition.

Evernight

Island district of Lysstyrer. This island belong to Black Cat Science Unit. A special jurisdiction area where the most dangerous scientist and inventor being hold in special prison, and where their tech being develop with less moral restriction compare to mainland. The island are restrict area with self defense capability.

Technology

Fallsteel

A light gray color metal from pallasite meteorite and in metal vein around it which make Æthenium arts conductive circuit for Light guiding technology and use as minor additive to improve property of steel and alloy.

Æthenium

A glowing blue crystal found in pallasite meteorite. A near perpetual energy source for Light guiding technology.

Fluxstone

Byproduct of particle emitting from Æthenium collected by certain type of slime. It can be use to power Light guiding technology like a battery. When it lost its energy fluxstone either dissipate or turn into clear crystal similar to quartz depend on purity.

Culture

Katten Siege Fest

Annual medieval combat and market festival. A mixed between historical medieval martial art competition, farmer market, flea market and LARPing event. The festival is running for one week in the old town district of Katteskogen with activity range from sparring competition, handcraft costume contest, archer competition, joint tavern service, camping ground and full contact castle siege battle. The event is open to visitor from all country. While the propose of the festival is to celebrate the end of harvesting season and let people unleash their stress. Fighting without both challenger consent or causing property damage during festival are prohibited. Every participant in sparring event will require weapon and armor inspection by Lysstyrer event staff to ensure participant safety.

Valkyrja Comic Market (ValCon)

Annual self publish media market of Lysstyrer. Hosting at townsquare of Valkeamaki during summer week. Majority of self published work are in comic and manga form. Many young animator with their debut project at ValCon to attract recruiter from art and animation industry. Many of Lysstyrer famous manga work are also start as self publish debut at ValCon before licensed by publisher and given proper publishing edit. Game developer usually join ValCon to advertising their game or recruit newly graduated art student and developer from nearby college and university. The booth fee is consider cheap and affordable for student.

Moonhaven Launch Competition

Annual amateur rocket building and launching competition. Set in the polar night winter at Spaceport Moonhaven. The event aim to attract young teen into aerospace industry and give them a fun event to do in long frigid cold month. Participant can be both college student or enthusiasts group. Participant will have one month with limited budget grant from the spaceport to build a fully functional amateur rocket capable of reaching space and return safely in controlled manner. The team will have to learn how to operate in harsh winter night in darkness with almost no natural light aside from polar light and artificial light source.

Climate

Being at a far northern corner of Micras, most of the country lies either at a very high altitude, at a location north of the Micrasian Arctic Circle, or both. The vast majority of the country is unfit for human habitation above ground, and so most farming is done underground using techniques unique to the Lysstyrer people, to include hydroponics, aeroponics, and other modernized agricultural methods. Most tree-derived food is imported from the south, where the climate of The Hexarchy allows for vast orchards of exotic fruits to derive.

The Smedberg region is an exception to the very cold, mountain tundra climate of the region. Thanks to the 1685 asteroid impact that wiped out the previous Storish inhabitants in the region, the Smedberg area enjoys a low altitude in its oddly circular shaped territory. The region enjoys summer access to the ocean via a port to the north, and the natural inlets deep into Lysser territory created by the asteroid impact allow for a very limited amount of international trade with nearby Normark and Samholdsøya in the far north of Micras.

Similarly, the southern portions of the Katteskogen region experience a closer-to-normal growing season, providing most of the domestic output of Lysstyrer's domestic above-ground food output. The region's northwest, while covered in permafrost, gives way to taiga in the mid latitudes, and a temperate zone in the west and south where the vast mountain ranges finally end.
