The House of Bucolos (ALX: la maison de Bucolos) is a prominent family of Nouvelle Alexandrie. Beginning as surveyors and cartographers, their business, Bucolos et fils received the attention and appreciation of the federal government, resulting in the family's rise to national import and the ennoblement of various members.

Biographies

Edgard Dieuxdonné

The eldest child of Icol Bucolos, he was a cartographer with Bucolos et fils from 1676. Becoming responsible for most of the company's output in maps, he had no interest in the actual running of the business, to which his brother succeeded in 1684. One of S. S.' first acts was to make Edgard head of a division devoted to public-interest products: maps intended for education, public outreach, and aesthetic appeal. He remained in this position until his retirement in 1735. He married Nereida Acosta in 1687, and died within a few days of her in 1738; they had no issue.

Célestine Julie

The second child of Icol Bucolos, Célestine spent several years helping manage the bathymetric division of Bucolos et fils in Norvind, but although she retained a stake in the company she departed her management role in search of a more overtly pleasant business. She went into business with Reynaldo Voclain, pilot of a small pleasure cruise service on the Côte du Sud, and helped him build it up into Gloire du Monde, one of the region's most popular cruise companies. Célestine married Voclain in 1683 and had three children; they are the ancestors of the Voclains of Pontecorvo.

Henri Eugène

The fifth child of Icol Bucolos. He was a surveyor for Bucolos et fils for over half his life, traveling extensively across Nouvelle Alexandrie and other parts of the world. He had the misfortune of being in North Lyrica in 1706 during the events of the Great Vanic Revolt, when he died in a terrorist attack in Chambouly attributed to the Freyja's Battlers. He died without legitimate issue, having never married, though he acknowledged paternity of four children, each on a different continent.

Raynor Icol

The only child of Mira Raynora Bucolos and Biternion Farstrider, Raynor was orphaned in 1713 when his parents were lost at sea. He was adopted by his mother's twin sister Lissanse and her wife. Somewhat to their displeasure, he opted for a career in the Federal Navy, attending the Federal Naval Academy in Punta Santiago. By the time of the Fourth Euran War he held the rank of ship-commander, commanding the destroyer HMS Ñawi Inti, Euran Fleet. He distinguished himself in the closing hours of the Naval Battle of Norvind, assisting in thwarting one of the suicidal attempts of the remaining Oportian vessels to damage a Nouvelle Alexandrian cruiser. He married Nastaran Rostami in 1727, and has two children.
