Talks began on opening formal trade routes. In line with Oportian libertarian free market policies, adjustments had to be made whereby Hurmu agrees to import without tax anything exported from Oportia that is legal under Hurmu law; and vice versa. In 1719, Oportia joined the Xäiville Convention, having been sponsored by Hurmu to do so.
