Victoria Bèb
Victoria Bèb (24.XII.1737–6.II.1756) was a Lac Glaceian noblewoman, Lady of the Holy Lakes, and cousin to Grand Duke Orion III, whose name became known across Micras due to the circumstances of her death.
On 7.II.1756, she was reported missing by her parents, Eva (née fonn Klosso) and Jérôme Bèb, after failing to return home following a winter solstice gathering held the previous day. On 9.II.1756, her body was discovered; the circumstances were consistent with a human sacrifice. The coroner ruled the death a probable murder, and police initiated an investigation.
Investigators found Crandish religious paraphernalia at the scene, associated with extremist elements of the Nü Krantisk Rapskaff. Religious scholars from the University of Alpreaux linked the killing to the controversial bluutlaak ("blood sacrifice") ritual, outlawed in Cranda in the early 15th century, in which a relative of an enemy is sacrificed to the gods in an attempt to bring a victorious end to a drawn-out conflict. In this narrative, Victoria, as a cousin to the Lac Glaceian grand duke, would through her death bring victory to the Nü Krantisk Repüblik.
As of 10.II.1756, the assailants remain at large.
