Sanaman Cibola was a Sanaman territory on the northern Cibolan coast, established in 1691. After the Sanaman Civil War, which did not affect the territory which still acknowledges the legitimacy of the elected government under Chancellor Keysa Nur Pinito Caprici, the territory is known as the Democratic Federation of Sanama Cibolan Territory under Military Administration.

The objective of the establishment is twofold: to provide a halfway port for ships going to and from the Sanaman Antarctic Territory, and to provide a base for natural resources exploration. Security and public works are provided by the Foreign Legion, established in 1690 to provide manpower to military and civilian ventures outside Benacia. The Foreign Legion mainly recruits members from the Green and various wayward deserters, expats and vagrants, and is a strictly military organisation, reporting directly to the General Staff of the Sanaman Army. The current Brigadier-in-Chief of the Legion commander of the territory is Alain Pimpolet. The colony was first established at an inlet, initially named The Settlement. In 1694 the capital of the territory was renamed Niyi Axi, meaning New Niyi in Sanaman.

Towards the end of 1704, the new regime in Sanama launched the Liberation of Sipula campaign to take control over Sanaman Cibola.

History

The Sanaman Antarctic Territory was established in 1675 after prospectors found large deposits of natural gas in the Antarctic. Over the course of the following 15 years, Asara Eliana in Two Martyrs served as the main connection point for vessels heading to and from the SAT. By 1690, it had become increasingly troublesome to manage transports between the SAT and mainland Sanama, only relying on the port in Asara Eliana. Ayreon's Bay in Waffel Plains was sometimes used as a stopover port, but the Sanaman authorities increasingly felt that relying completely on a foreign power, even a friendly one, was not optimal. In 1694, partly as a response to Calbain expansion in the area, the Foreign Legion on orders from the General Staff attempted to expand the territory under their control.

Establishment

Four Independence-class transport docks departed Port Niyi on 13.I.1691 with destination northern Cibola. On 21.I the ships landed close to the northern shore of Cibola and unloaded the legionnaires and equipment, accompanied by prospectors, translators and pathfinders. Construction of the first temporary buildings began immediately.

Government

From the date of settlement general administration of the territory was the responsibility of the commander of the Foreign Legion, as ex officio administrator. In the future, a civilian administrator will be appointed to handle day-to-day administrative matters. After Chancellor Nur Pinito Caprici relocated to the territory after the Sanaman Civil War, civilian administration is expected to be transferred to her government.
