A stopgap armoured vehicle, developed to serve as a tank-hunter and as a platform to operate in the direct-fire support role for infantry, the T-105 self-propelled gun was developed by VolksCorp in the period following the unilateral rearmament of the Florian Republic and introduced into service with the Florian Republic Armed Forces just prior to the outbreak of the Verionian-Raspur War where, ironically enough, the SPG would be deployed against forces of the Iron Company, VolksCorps' ultimate owners.

An adequate, rather than spectacular, armoured vehicle, the T-105 performed well-enough as a mobile gun-emplacement, although its utility as a tank-killer was limited against modern and heavily armoured main battle tanks. The Black Legions received 57 T-105's as part of the Florian contribution in the allied effort against Kalgachia where only one was lost as a consequence of enemy action. These were subsequently distributed amongst four armoured legions and an area defence group facing towards the frontier with Lower Batavia.

Only thinly armoured, the T-105 is best positioned to fire from positions of concealment, preferably with a line of retreat that is obscured from any potential hostile field of fire.

Because of the T-105's limited gun elevation it is ill-suited to indirect fire missions[1] and as such remains, however inadequately, employed in the sphere of armoured warfare.

In 1703 AN the Benacian Union Defence Force donated the T-105's it had inherited from the Black Legions to the Golden Order Militia, the paramilitary wing of the Humanist and Rykerist Golden Order Party in Ransenar.

Notes

  1. ^ Where the vehicle was issued to formations of the Black Legions along the Batavian frontier, ingenious commanders on the ground transformed the T-105 into an artillery piece by preparing earthen ramps, the elevation of which corresponded to the distance of the intended target. As may be appreciated, this only worked with fixed targets identified long in advance.
