Swnndyrrr
The Swnndyrrr are a fox-like humanoid species originating from Toketi, created by Liam conToketi in approximately 1543 AN. The Swnndyrrr diaspora would eventually inhabit Shireroth and Hurmu, although political pressures have further scattered the remaining population. Fewer than 6,000 individuals are believed to have survived the Magic Blight in Gralus in the late 1620s AN, 525 of whom are now settling Port of Sails as the Swnndyrrân Kelðitton, or "Survivors of the Swnndyrrr", under the leadership of Ytteirsal Rinne Baarrnan.
Description
Swnndyrrr appear mostly human, being bipedal and having flat faces and generally pale skin covered in thin body hair. However, Swnndyrrr have large, triagular ears sat higher on their heads than human ears, as well as long tails, both of which are covered in thicker fur than their normal body hair, typically close in color to the hair on their scalps, which can vary in shade among black, brown, red, grey, and rarely tan or white. Swnndyrrr walk plantigrade with well developed calcaneal tendons evolved for long-distance running. The average Swnndyrrr male stands approximately 1.85 meters tall and weighs 70 kilograms, while the average female stands 1.70 meters tall and weighs 65 kilograms, although body sizes can vary as much as humans.
History
Toketi underwent a period of unrest following the abdication of King Liam conToketi I, establishing a wide-spread nostalgia for the first king. Thousands would take this to such an extreme that, upon Liam's death in 1542 AN in Blavatsky, Straylight, Shireroth, and the return of his body to Toketi for burial, he would undergo apotheosis, becoming elevated to godhood as Reynardine. As a result, the most fervent of Liam's followers would be transformed into the Swnndyrrr, most of whom were inhabiting the city of Port of Sails and Toketan Duchy of Doshtan Yokutar at the time.
The first Swnndyrrr in Shireroth was Llewellyn Rottsaa of New Shirlan, who was named heir to Liam's holdings and titles in the nation. He would eventually rule as Steward Corey Oroigawa I and later Kaiser Reynardine I. They were subsequently referred to in Benacian historiography as "eastern fox-daemons".
The expansion of magical activities in Doshtan Yokutar during the reign of King Bayen ronToketi IV would drive the vast majority of Swnndyrrr there to Lontinien, Hurmu. The Baarrnan family would rise to prominence in Hurmu politics, Talsin Baarrnan eventually becoming Speaker of the Senate of the Lakes.
After the declaration of independence of the Republic of Vegno, Port of Sails was secured by the Vegnese Armed Forces. There were no clashes, perhaps due to the disparity of forces, and the city passed peacefully under the control of Vegno, whose administration granted the Swnndyrrr equal rights. The relationship between the new rulers and the local population, in particular the Swnndyrrân Kelðitton leader Rinne Baarrnan, remains cold at the moment; peaceful coexistence would appear to be the best solution for both sides. In 1707 AN, the President of Vegno, His Excellency Antonio Visciglia, officially signed a decree to repopulate and modernize the city, ensuring the integrity of the historic center.
