The Stadtparlement is a unicameral parliament that is the highest legislative organ of the Republic of Sankt Ludwigshafen. The Stadtparlement has 50 seats, which are filled through elections using a party-list proportional representation. The Stadtparlement has been located on the market place of Stadt Sankt Ludwigshafen since its establishment in 1680, also being the establishment of the First Republic. In 1693 Siseranist terrorists were able to detonate a nuclear device within the halls of the Stadtparlement, completely destroying it. Without guidance from the Stadtparlement, from 1693 to 1696 the republic was ungoverned and the Second Republic ended. In 1696 the small town of Hinterdünen was made capital of the Third Republic, and also the location of the Stadtparlement. In 1700 the contamination of the nuclear attack on Stadt Sankt Ludwigshafen had largely been removed and a new parliamentary building constructed, so the Stadtparlement was restored to its former location in the traditional capital.

The first elections were held in 1680, and the house has been dominated by the Traditional Party of 1680 ever since. The party has never received fewer than 39 seats in a regular election, and was awarded 35 seats in the negotiated result of the 1689 pro forma elections. The traditional opposition party is the Slight Reform Party of 1681, which was awarded 10 seats in the 1683 elections, and 15 seats in the negotiated 1689 parliamentary composition. In the Second and Third Republic, the party has only been marginally successful gaining 4 seats in 1699 and fewer in other years. Other parties that participate in the Stadtparlements elections are the Progressive Alliance of 1683 and the Tekeel Party of 1697.
