Service class subjects
Service class subjects were a re-categorisation of protected persons and bondsmen in the Benacian Union who could be rehabilitated through service as battlefield replacements for the Benacian Union Defence Force during its war with Shireroth. Unlike penitent units raised from the Benacian Labour Reserve, service class persons would be inducted directly into units after basic training and would serve alongside meritorious subjects, albeit without the benefit of equal pay. Rations and armaments issued to service class subjects would be generally of an equivalent type albeit lesser quality than those provided to their meritorious counterparts.
Those service class subjects who survived the full duration of their service tour would be permitted to re-enter society as meritorious subjects following competitive auctions at which representatives of Constancia, the Sovereign Confederation, and the Honourable Company, were permitted to bid. The manumission fee thereupon paid would be shared between the released subject and the Commission for the Sacred Treasury.
The first instances of voluntary enlistment began to be made in Elluenuueq during early 1734 AN, in order to replace battlefield casualties endured by the State Guard during the early battles of the frontier. A wider scheme of impressment across the Union-State began in the eighth month of the year.
