Representative Office of Sathrati in Chryse
The Representative Office of Sathrati in Chryse was the diplomatic mission established by the Count of Erudition on 13.VI.1731 AN to serve as the principal channel for liaison and negotiation between the newly self-proclaimed independent Emirate of Sathrati and the Benacian Union following the promulgation of the Articles of Just Secession.
Background
In the wake of escalating tensions with the Shirerithian authorities in Raynor's Keep, the Council of Sathrati unilaterally severed ties with the Imperial Republic of Shireroth on 11.V.1731 AN, reasserting Sathrati's sovereign independence through the Articles of Just Secession. This pivotal declaration cited grievances over perceived imperial overreach, violations of Sathrati's autonomy under the Protocols of Erudition, and unlawful policing actions against Sathrati.
With Sathrati's status as a dominion of the Imperial Republic now repudiated, there existed an urgent need to establish a framework for diplomatic relations and negotiations with the Benacian Union - the continental empire centred in Chryse.
To this end, the Council dispatched a delegation headed by Minister Plenipotentiary Abdan Azam al-Uzul to the Union's capital with instructions to secure recognition of Sathrati's independence and open channels for dialogue on post-secession realities.
Premises
The Representative Office was initially housed within a suite at the opulent Skyline Hotel in the Malachite District while premises were identified. In late 1731 AN, the delegation acquired a property on Vermillion Lane, a tree-lined avenue in the respectable but unfashionable Cinnabar Quarter of Chryse's Lower Town.
The building, a former townhouse dating from the mid-17th century, underwent extensive renovations to accommodate the needs of the diplomatic mission. A separate entrance pavilion was constructed to permit unobstructed access for official visitors, while the interiors were redesigned with arabesque motifs and lush gardens installed in the central courtyard.
Once refurbished, the Representative Office comprised the Minister's residence, protocol offices, consular section, military liaison department, and support facilities. It quickly became regarded as an oasis of Sathrati hospitality amidst the austerity of outer Chryse.
Activities
Beyond maintaining a channel for official communication, the Representative Office pursued a vigorous public affairs agenda to advocate for Sathrati's cause across Benacian political and social spheres. A steady stream of cultural exhibitions, recitals, and forums allowed the mission to engage influencers while subtly promoting Sathrati's narrative of democratic self-determination.
The Office's military liaison department closely monitored developments within the Benacian Union Defence Force, given concerns over Shireroth's ongoing military intervention. Operatives established links to sympathetic blocs, courting allegiances that could sway the strategic balance.
