The Port of Johannsessbuurg (Crandan: Haven fonn Johannsessbuurg) is the principal commercial port of the Free Duchy of Anglien and the largest single contributor to economic activity in the city of Johannsessbuurg. The port occupies both banks of the lower estuary of the Klars River in the Pakhuisstad district, with its working harbor approximately eight kilometers inland from the open Clear Sea. The port handles all significant import and export activity passing through the duchy, including general cargo, container traffic, ferry services to Eesdehaven and the Purple Isles, and the commercial fishing landings that have resumed under the duchy's post-Charter fisheries-licensing regime. Two of the port's four pre-war working berths had been restored to operational status by the close of 1755 AN, with a third under reconstruction. Full restoration of the port's pre-occupation capacity, including its specialized cargo-handling equipment and the deepwater berths capable of accommodating heavy freight vessels, is expected to require three to five years of sustained investment.
The port is administered as an integrated municipal-national facility rather than through a separate port authority. Day-to-day operations are coordinated by the Pakhuisstad municipal administration under the Burgemeester's office; customs and port duties are collected by the Ministry of Finance and Reconstruction through its principal customs houses on the eastern bank; and the Anglian Maritime Service, whose main base is at Eesdehaven, maintains a port detachment in the Pakhuisstad responsible for territorial-waters enforcement, anti-smuggling interdiction, fisheries protection, and search and rescue within the harbor approaches.
