Nova Roma is a city with special status located in Oleslääd-Svensland in Amokolia. As of 1758 AN, Nova Roma had a population of 72,048. It lies north of the Benacian Peninsula, opposite the Automatica Islands. The majority of Nova Roma's population consists of Normans who migrated to Amokolia to take advantage of its opportunities.

History

Nova Roma has a long history and is featured on the earliest versions of maps. Originally founded by the Communa di Paramount, Nova Roma soon fell under the control of Machiavellia. It was then part of Italia, a sub-federated region. Nova Roma later came under the influence of Wildflorer, Karnali, and Aerlig. Under Shirertian influence, its name became St. Angelsk, and it was briefly part of Automatica. When Shireroth withdrew from Automatica, the old city was completely abandoned and never restored until 1752 AN. Only a few significant structures remain of the city.

In 1742 AN, a replica of the old city was built five kilometers outside the city, providing insight into what the old city looked like. The city was then fully completed in 1745 AN and welcomed its first inhabitants. Many came from Normandie, seeking ample work opportunities in Benacia, where they would work in the southern fields and provide for their families back in Normandy. However, the number of immigrants decreased as conditions in Normandie improved.

Sightseeing

The most important sight in Nova Roma is the old city. It boasts a long history and bears a deep Machiavellian influence. The old city once housed a large gladiatorial arena, now a massive hollow. The old city has been continuously restored since 1752 AN, with new discoveries constantly being made. It can be reached by car, bus, bicycle, or on foot.

Economy

The economy of Nova Roma is generally based on trade and agriculture. Although the Nova Roma Market is relatively new compared to its surroundings, it offers the best quality and most affordable produce of Oleslääd-Svensland. Outside the city lie vast agricultural areas, and given the region's cold continental climate, cold-resistant crops are grown. Livestock farming is also widespread, with many farm animals, primarily pigs, raised in barns. Furthermore, hunting for coyote, beaver, and lynx meat, brought to mainland Benacia by the Normans, provides a significant source of income for the city's inhabitants.
