The National Democratic Congress (NDC), popularly known as Congress Party, is a political alliance in Çakaristan. It was founded in 1720 AN as a big tent on the left of the political spectrum. Left-wing, socialist, liberal and secular parties work together to achieve common political goals and share residual seats in elections.
History
The National Democratic Congress had been formed in 1720 AN as a coalition ahead of the 1721 AN elections. The main aim of the National Democratic Congress was to form an anti-United Green coalition. In the years leading up to the final formation of the alliance, attempts were already being made to form occasional coalitions. Ideas to form a joint party failed because of ideological differences. But time and again, United Green remained the largest and leading party, so there was still a need for counterbalance. Only the failure of the Çakari People's Party to select a candidate for the Grand Vizier elections of 1715 and its loss in the 1717 elections raised doubts, as it was seen as the leading party of the coalition. A conference was organised in 1720 AN, at which the alliance was formed. This was presented as an ultimate achievement, but there were also rumours that external forces were driving the formation of the alliance.
In the 1725 AN elections, the alliance competed as a party for the first time.

Structure
The National Democratic Congress does not have a formal governing structure such as an executive board or politburo. It has been up to the leaders of the individual parties to make decisions on issues such as sharing of seats in elections and the issues that are raised in the Çakari Congress. Given the varied ideologies among the parties, there may have many cases of disagreement and split voting among the allies.
Rahul Kayal presided over the conference in 1720 AN and automatically became chairman of the alliance.

Common positions
Despite the participating parties having independent positions, common positions have been formulated.
- Restoring elections for Grand Vizier. As part of the state of emergency, the position was appointed by the Shahanshah since 1719 AN instead of by election.
- Some republican parties participate in the alliance, opting for an abolition of the monarchy, while other participating parties do not share this position. As a common position, the alliance is in favour of a ceremonial role of the Shahanshah.
- Taking political power to national level, away from the States.
- Introducing stricter gun laws.
- Introducing the minimum wage.
- Introducing and expanding Social Security.
