The National Connectivity Initiative is a major infrastructure and digital development program launched under the framework of A Better Deal by the Administration of Premier Juan Pablo Jimenez. Introduced in 1740 AN, the initiative aims to bridge the digital divide, modernize the country's digital infrastructure, and ensure that every New Alexandrian has reliable access to high-speed internet and essential government digital services. It is administered jointly by the Department of Civil Works and Transportation and the Department of Research and Development.

Program

The initiative has three main pillars: rural broadband access, 5G network deployment, and the modernization of government digital services.

Rural Broadband Expansion

As of IV.1743 AN, the program has extended high-speed internet access to 1,872 previously underserved rural and peri-urban communities across all of Nouvelle Alexandrie. This expansion has connected an estimated 4.3 million citizens to reliable broadband services for the first time. The improved connectivity has enabled significant progress in access to telehealth services, remote education platforms, and digital work opportunities in formerly isolated regions.

5G Network Deployment

Since the launch of the initiative, over 8,500 new 5G towers have been installed across Nouvelle Alexandrie. This infrastructure expansion has increased national 5G coverage to 73% of the population, up from just 45% in 1740 AN. The improved 5G footprint supports the rapid growth of the technology sector, enhances the deployment of smart city infrastructure, and improves service delivery in dense urban environments.

Government Digital Services Modernization

The National Connectivity Initiative also includes a sweeping effort to consolidate and modernize the digital presence of the federal government through the launch of the Citizenship Portal, or the Portal del Ciudadano. This unified online platform centralizes access to over 200 government services across 27 federal departments and agencies. As of IV.1743 AN, the portal processes more than 15 million transactions monthly, a 320% increase in utilization since the program’s inception. Key features of the portal include secure biometric-based digital identification, personalized dashboards for benefits tracking (including pensions, unemployment insurance, and child allowances), a digital mailbox for official government correspondence, integrated tax filing and payment options, centralized healthcare appointments, and real-time application tracking for permits, licenses, and public housing. The platform is accessible via mobile and desktop, and includes multilingual support for Istvanistani, Martino, Babkhi, Constancian, Wechua, and Wakara.
