The Senate of the Lakes (Hurmu Norse: Aldraraaðeð sjooa; Lakkvian: Järvede vanematekogu; White Lontinian: Nuuruudyn Akhmadyn zövlöl; Blue Lontinian: Kölder aqsaqaldarı keñesi; Crandish: Altonratt ties Zeivers), also known as the Senate of Hurmu and the Senate, is the upper chamber of the Parlerment (or legislature) of Hurmu, and is also the collective head of state of Hurmu, as an example of the exercise of sovereignty of the Order of the Holy Lakes in right of Hurmu. The Senate is also the constitutional court of Hurmu, and it decides on rules governing the Order of the Holy Lakes
The current Senate, elected in 1701 and took office on 1.I.1702, has 18 members who are elected by the Electors, that is the adult members (who are at least or will turn 18 years of age during the year of the election) of the Order of the Holy Lakes. The Senate had 9 members from 1690 to 1701, with the first election occurring in 1690 and the second one in 1695. From 1702 and onwards, the Senate had 18 members. More...
