Mårten Kvalsted is a Hurmu former politician from Amaland for the Communist Workers' Party. Minister for the Keltian Districts (1719–1720). Captured during the end of the 1719–1720 Hurmu civil conflict. Sentenced in 1720 by court in Samhold for perjury in criminal cases involving Greta Mondosdottra (acquitted for treachery, sedition and treason). Received social harmonization therapy in Samhold from 1720 until his release 39 years later in 1759. Upon his release he had the longest period in social harmonization therapy in Hurmu history. When asked by media why he had been released, Greta Mondosdottra, Minister of Policing and Security and victim in his case, stated that "he's a good boy now". Official records showed that the risk of reoffending now was deemed negligible. Following his release, he lived for several months in a bedsit in Ataasiussuservik before Mondo arranged for him to move into a cottage on the edge of the town, where he since resides.

Elopement scandal

In early VI.1761 AN, Kvalsted was reported missing from his home, prompting the Samhold and Karnamark authorities to authorise a search of the surrounding area out of concern for his safety. Media speculation concerning a potential kidnap plot was abruptly silenced a week later, when he resurfaced in Western Corum in the company of Greta Mondosdottra's daughter, Eleonora Spooner. It subsequently emerged that the pair had eloped, having begun an unlikely romantic relationship after Spooner had visited the newly-released Kvalsted in his cottage earlier that year.

News of the elopement prompted a media frenzy, with many social media users commenting on the substantial age-difference between Kvalsted, 69, and Spooner, 21. Spooner's parents both responded negatively; Mondosdottra admitted being "mystified" by her daughter's choice, while her husband Gerard Spooner allegedly threatened to "beat him [Kvalsted] to death with my bare hands".

With confirmation of the wedding having taken place, Kvalsted was inscribed in the Almanac of the Holy Lakes by the Chancellor of the Order of the Holy Lakes on 6.VI.1761.
