Leylstadter Bieren
Leylstadter Beers, known in the Duchy itself as Leylstadter Bieren, is a brewery located in the village of Thorgou, in the Duchy of Leylstadt. The brewery, managed by Rudolf Duytscher - a direct descendant of the brewers of Hertogen van Dietsland Brouwerij (near Schaerbosch in Batavia) - produces a series of local and delicious beers. It has the habit of naming its drinks after historical Batavian, Badaweian or Leylstadter figures who played an important role in the development of their respective countries.
In 1676 AN, an agreement concerning sponsorship was signed between Rudolf Duytscher and the Alriggian sports clubs SC Driftwood and BC Driftwood. It made Leylstadter Bieren the first company to participate in sponsoring foreign events, which was celebrated with the creation of an Alriggiaanse Pils. Partially due to its prominence as sponsor of two popular sports club in the city, Leylstadter Bieren was the most popular foreign beer brewer in the Alriggian capital until late 1687.
In 1687 AN, the company moved to Tiegang in the International Mandate, when the Duchy of Leylstadt collapsed. It became one of the largest companies within the city, making use of the influx of Krasnocorian refugees who could be used as cheap labour. As the company had previously promised to move to Jingdao, the move to Tiegang angered Jingdaoese officials who banned the import of Leylstadter beers into the Jingdaoese Empire. Refugees from Leylstadt who had moved to Jingdao were ordered to come up with an alternative and the Duke Nicholas Brewery was set up in Silafucheng.
In the same year as Leylstadter Bieren shifted operations to the International Mandate, the SS Andronikos, recently arrived at anchor in Tiegang's on the leeward of the city's southern isle, took onboard 60 crates of Alriggiaanse Pils for onward conveyance to Elmaovo as part of the ongoing efforts to evacuate the employees of the Honourable Company formerly engaged with the city's brokerage.
