History of Jingdao
This page is used as a draft. Work still in progress. The project is Apollonia-focused, meaning that it sees the reassertion of power in hands of the Jing Clan as one event in a long line of historical events. It does not focus on following the Jing People on their travel across the world.
The Empire of the Glorious Sun (1462bAN - 351bAN)
Barely anything is known from this period in time. It is known that it was the first human civilisation in this world, preceding the Empire of Khaz Modan (1211bAN – 0bAN) and Istvanistan.
- 1462bAN: The god Cato pushes back the Darkness on the world. One of His servants and warriors, a human, receives the permission to establish the first human civilisation: the Empire of the Glorious Sun.
- 452bAN: The reoccurrence of the Great Evil takes the Emperor by surprise. Reports about a mysterious dark fog, at the Audente Mountains, which spawns monsters arrives at the capital, Nonjin. The peaceful and well-developed lands are drenched in darkness.
- 446 bAN: The cities barely hold out against the Great Evil: the peoples retreat to the Kildarian Mountains. An effort is made to unite the Kitani dragons, humanity and Vervol ents in one grand coalition. The Gates, which protect the mountain entrances are able to stop the demons.
- 445 bAN: A counter-offensive takes place. Many have fallen, including most of the Imperial Clan. The Great Evil is pushed back.
- 438 bAN: The last remnants of the Great Evil is purged. Xiacheng is restored as capital of the Empire.
- 425bAN: Tensions between the clans and the weakening of the Imperial Clan brings unrest. The new Emperor unites his people by arousing their anger towards the Khaz Modani, who had refused to send aid to the Empire in their time of need (other stories tell about how help was sent, but the expeditionary army was betrayed and their ships stolen by a scared mob).
- 402bAN: A Great Fleet, numbering 20,000 ships and over 800,000 soldiers, is assembled from across the Empire and sent westwards. The Fleet, and consequently its army, is crushed by a coalition of Khaz Modani and Istvanistani ships. While outmatched in numbers, the Great Fleet is unable to defeat the more experienced sailors, which weakens the Empire even more.
- 401bAN: The loss of almost a million of his finest soldiers and commanders brings the Empire to the brink of destruction. Several Clans start to plot and - sometimes even openly revolt - against the Imperial Court. Concessions are made, which temporarily quells the anger of the people.
- 372bAN: The later Ying Emperor is born as son of a High Priest. He rises to prominence in dire times: his charisma helps him in assembling a young group of wise, influential and strong nobles and dignitaries from the Eight Clans (excluding the Imperial Clan, which is on its last feet).
- 351bAN: The last Emperor of the Imperial Clan dies at the hand of a governor, who takes revenge for the rape of his wife. Anger towards the Imperial Clan leads to the Ying Emperor leading a rebellion. He becomes the first Emperor of a new, revived Empire: the Empire of the Pure Path. Shortened to: Jingdao.
Empire of the Pure Path / Jingdao (351bAN - present)
The Zuxiang Dynasty (351 bAN - 264)
The Wangzi Dynasty (265 - 987)
Youya Dynasty (987 - 1451)
the 'elegant' (Airosamente) dynasty: seen as a period in which several states attempt to gain power. While a period of fraction, the leaders of Apollo City (Xiacheng) are seen as the legitimate Emperors.
Jierdai Dynasty (1451 - 1623)
the Kildarian dynasty came to power after the conquest of Kildare by Kaiser Gaelen in 1451.
