Elluenuueq Resurgence

The Elluenuueq Resurgence refers to an ongoing period of armed conflict, insurgency, and sporadic violence between resistance fighters - labeled as terrorists by the Imperial Government of Shireroth - and the forces of the Imperial Republic. Beginning in 1741 AN, the conflict arose in response to the Shirerithian occupation of the region formerly known as Elluenuueq.

Elluenuueq was a significant territorial entity within the Benacian Union, known for its distinct political, military, and cultural institutions. When Shireroth reasserted control over the region in the aftermath of the Shiro-Benacian War, efforts were made to dismantle the structures left by the Benacian Union and reintegrate the territory into the Imperial Republic. However, these measures were met with resistance from former cadre members, military personnel, and sympathizers of the previous regime. The occupation was viewed by these groups as illegitimate, leading to the emergence of an armed resistance movement.

The resistance fighters—operating under various cell-based organizations—engaged in a campaign of sabotage, targeted assassinations, and bombings against Imperial authorities and infrastructure. Their primary targets included: government officials and former cadre members who collaborated with Shireroth, MoMA installations, supply routes, key infrastructure, such as railways, power grids, and administrative buildings. Inspired by the League of the National Defence Guilds in the Unified Governorates of Benacia, these insurgents did not function as a unified force. Instead, they operated under a decentralized structure, with various cells using different names and allegiances. This fragmentation made it difficult for Shirerithian forces to decisively eliminate the movement, as individual groups could continue operations even after others were neutralized.
