Elias Emmanuel Wilson-Clarke (born 14.X.1665 AN) is a New Alexandrian politician from the Region of North Lyrica and a member of the Wilson-Clarke family. A grandson of Joseph Wilson-Clarke, Jr., 2nd Duke of Lausanne, he has served as First Minister of North Lyrica continuously since 1693 AN and sat on the Council of State as Secretary of Social Security and National Solidarity. He is a member of the Federal Humanist Party (FHP) and the founder of the family's militant Humanist branch in North Lyrica.
Regional career
Elias was first elected First Minister of North Lyrica in 1693 AN, the year the region took its modern form, and has held the office continuously since. As the elected head of the regional government he has served under five Governors in the course of his tenure, most recently, by 1760 AN, Marie-Louise Arsenault of the FHP. He leads a regional sector party of the FHP.
Federal office
Elias was appointed Special Advisor for Lyrica in 1739 AN during the Administration of Premier Juan Pablo Jimenez. From 1744 AN he joined the Council of State as Secretary of Social Security and National Solidarity, serving until the administration left office in 1749 AN. His later career was marked by a constitutional confrontation between the North Lyrican executive and the federal government, litigated in North Lyrica v. Council of State (1753 AN), in which the region prevailed against the Council of State.
Honors
Elias was inducted into the Order of Ash and Elm as an Officer during the Quarter Millennium Gala in Huyenkula in 1752 AN. He was granted the honor of Knight Commander of the Order of the Imperial State of Constancia during the 1759 Extraordinary Investiture.
Family
Elias belongs to the Wilson-Clarke family, the Aldurian-descended settler dynasty prominent in the public life of the two Lyrican regions. He is a grandson of the 2nd Duke of Lausanne and the first cousin of Gary Wilson-Clarke, the Democratic Socialist Deputy for South Lyrica, the two men having made careers on opposite sides of both the party system and the strait dividing the Lyricas. He married Veronica Altamira in 1690 AN.
From Elias descends the militant wing of North Lyrican Humanism, the establishment mirror of the family's socialist branch across the strait. His son Ferdinand Wilson-Clarke built the party's disciplinary machinery in the region, and by 1760 AN Elias's descendants held both the North Lyrican party organization and seats in the Humanist national sector cadre: his granddaughter Adélaïde Wilson-Clarke as heir to the regional party organization, and Léon Wilson-Clarke and Constance Wilson-Clarke as enforcers of the party's code of Humanist Discipline.
