Marie-Louise Catherine Arsenault (born 3.II.1697 AN) is a New Alexandrian politician and attorney who has served as Acting Regional Governor of North Lyrica since 13.IV.1749 AN, following the arrest of Christian Cartier du Bois in the North Lyrica logging scandal.[1] A member of the Federal Humanist Party, Arsenault previously served as Lt. Governor of North Lyrica from 1739 AN to 1749 AN.

Arsenault's tenure as Acting Governor has been defined by her decisive break with her predecessor's policies and her embrace of comprehensive environmental reforms. Her cooperation with federal investigators and championing of strict environmental regulations has created a factional split within the regional Federal Humanist Party but earned praise from opposition parties and good-government advocates. She officially announced her candidacy for Regional Governor in the 1749 general elections on 28.VIII.1749 AN and is widely expected to win. Arsenault is the first woman to lead North Lyrica in any capacity and has positioned herself as a Pragmatic Humanist voice within the local FHP, arguing that the party must adapt to changing public priorities around environmental protection and government accountability.

Inducted to the Order of Ash and Elm, with the rank of Officer, during the Quarter Millennium Gala in Huyenkula in 1752.

Personal life

Arsenault married Philippe Moreau, an architect, in 1722 AN. The couple had two children: Thomas (born 1723 AN) and Isabelle (born 1726 AN). The marriage ended in divorce in 1738 AN, with Arsenault citing irreconcilable differences. She retained primary custody of the children, who were 15 and 12 at the time. Arsenault has been private about her personal life since entering politics. She has not remarried and rarely discusses her family in public settings. Both of her adult children live in other regions of Nouvelle Alexandrie and have maintained distance from her political career.

Arsenault is known for her disciplined work ethic and attention to detail. Staff members describe her as demanding but fair, with high expectations for both herself and those who work for her. She is reportedly an early riser who often arrives at the office by 6:30 AM and works late into the evening.
