Christian Marcel Cartier du Bois (born 15.VII.1681 AN) is a New Alexandrian politician and businessman who served as Regional Governor of North Lyrica from 1739 AN until his arrest in 1749 AN. A member of the Federal Humanist Party, Cartier du Bois presided over a period of unprecedented economic growth in North Lyrica before becoming the central figure in the North Lyrica logging scandal, one of the most significant corruption cases in modern New Alexandrian history.
Arrested on 12.IV.1749 AN[1] on charges of bribery, corruption, and environmental crimes, Cartier du Bois faces 47 criminal counts related to his role in facilitating illegal logging operations on protected lands in exchange for over NAX€12 million in payments from timber corporations. His trial, which began in VIII.1749 AN, has become a focal point for national debates about environmental policy, economic development, and government accountability.
Personal life
Cartier du Bois has been married to Véronique Mercier since 1706 AN. The couple has three children: Émilie (born 1707 AN), Alexandre (born 1710 AN), and Sophie (born 1714 AN). All three children have remained out of the public eye since their father's arrest, and Véronique Mercier has declined all media requests for interviews.
