The coat of arms of Chryse was adopted in 1687 after the enthronement of Salome as Queen and Exarch of Chryse, when the old coat of arms had fallen out of favour with Viceroy Isor Isor due to its relationship with Verionism and the House of Verion (an ideology and house that Isor disowned the same year). The coat of arms continued to be used by the Elwynnese authorities after the Battle of Chryse which saw Chryse annexed to Elwynn.

The coat of arms is blazoned Azure, two dolphins or urinant, that is, there are two golden dolphins diving (head-down) on a blue field. Dolphins are the national animal of the Chryse since its foundation, as dolphins are common in the waters around Chryse. Moreover, Chryse means "golden" in Apollonian/Athlonian, possibly relating to the gold-coloured cliffs along the city's coastline.

Historical

The first coat of arms of Chryse are believed to be a red shield with three golden orbs on top. This coat of arms fell out of official use in the 1200s, but was brought back to use in 1641 when the Iron Company took charge of Chryse. As such, the red shield with three gold orbs has become heavily associated with the Iron Company, Verionism and the House of Verion.

In 1679, the coat of arms was modified by adopting a Verionian colour scheme on top of the lighthouse of Chryse. The lighthouse was adorned with the original shield with orbs. This coat of arms was unpopular, and was replaced by one of a grey-to-silver shield-maiden holding the red shield with gold orbs, with her back against the flag of Chryse in a Verionian a colour scheme. This coat of arms was the only one to carry a motto, "Chryste" (with a T) in reference to the local vernacular pronunciation of the city's name.
