The Caputian Legion is a foreign legion recruited from the families of the Caputian diaspora. It was raised on 20.II.1688 AN, twenty years after the dissolution of the Kingdom of the Union of Caputia, in the federation of Alduria-Wechua, which was renamed Nouvelle Alexandrie in 1693 AN. It is formed nominally of 54,000 men organized into nine brigades.[1]
In 1758 AN the Legion was transferred to New Caputia with orders to garrison the territory, and it forms the heart of the 302nd Combined-Arms Army.[1]
Recruitment
The Legion draws its recruits from the families of the Caputian diaspora rather than from any Caputian territory, the kingdom having been dissolved on 30.XV.1668 AN. In this it belongs to a wider Micran practice of raising formations from a specified diaspora rather than from a citizenry: the Alexandrian Legion was raised on the same day and at the same strength from the Alexandrian diaspora, and the Constancian Foreign Legion recruits from the Alexandrian and Santanderan diasporas.[2]
Garrison
The transfer of 1758 AN placed the Legion in the region constituted as a homeland for the scattered Caputian people, so that a formation recruited from the dispersal is stationed in the territory settled by it. The Legion serves under the Federation rather than under the Royal Caputian Government in Exile, which represents the diaspora from Nivardom.[1]
