The Brettish Fyrð is the provisional title of the Territorial Forces of the Brettish Isles with effect from from 1.I.1753 AN and the transfer of sovereignty from Calbion to the Order of the Holy Lakes.
The Hurmu Fyrð initially received reports that the new formation was to be led by a Captain Cedric Hardwicke-Burke, the native officer with seniority in the islands at the withdraw of the Calbion garrison. As the reports also indicated that the Captain was a widower, who had trained as a surgeon and who was last noted as living in a shared bachelor's apartment in Baskerville on half-pay, the Secretary of State for Peace requested that enquiries be made into the actual conditions of defences in the Brettish Isles.
