Bezirkbürgerwehr

The Bezirkbürgerwehr (district citizen's militia) is the oldest form of militia found in the Sankt Ludwigshafen, the Lanzerwald Republic and the Confoederatio Aemilia that has been around since 1680, predating the Dragonerkorps Ludwigshafen and the Kriegskorps Ludwigshafen. It consists of volunteers that work together to defend their region against foreign attacks, often the Bezirkbürgerwehr works together with the Bezirkfeuerwehr (district firefighters) and share buildings and thempower. Training of the Bezirkbürgerwehr units is provided by the Volksheer, as well as uniforms and surplus military equipment. Maintenance of equipment is the responsibility of the Bezirkbürgerwehr itself. Some of the militias in strategic areas maintain old Osthügel Motorenwerke Panzergefechtswagen I's and are trained to use them to slow down enemy advancements.
