The Altrossheim Proclamation was a territorial claim outlined by Mondo Etzeterra on 20.XIV.1706 AN. Inspired by the discovery of a historical map from the First Age of Treisenberg, Mondo laid claim to over a million square kilometres of central Cibola believed to have been ceded to his ancestor.

The Rossheim Map

Discovered in an archival collection of documents inherited from the Rossheim family, the Rossheim Map depicted the proposed partition of the first Treisenberg state into three principalities: Morovina, Rhaetia and Rossheim. Although it remains unclear whether the territorial division was ever implemented as shown on the map, the then Empire of Treisenberg-Slavonia was indeed briefly recast as a confederation named the United Principalities of Treisenberg, comprising three sovereign states with the same names as those depicted.

The proclamation

On the basis of his descent from Christoph von Rossheim, sovereign Prince of Rossheim in the early 16th century AN, Mondo announced a formal claim to ownership of the unoccupied territories depicted on the Rossheim Map, together with additional lands to the south adjoining his Grand Duchy of Etzeland. The claimed territory was assigned the name of Altrossheim (Istvanistani: Old Rossheim), and was to be established as Mondo's personal and exclusive demesne within the Mondosphere.

Included with the proclamation was a draft map, depicting the proposed organisation of the region into three administrative divisions, Altrossheim-Nord (North Old Rossheim), with its administrative centre at the site of the former settlement of Troglonauts; Altrossheim-Süd (South Old Rossheim), with its administrative centre at the site of the ancient Treisenberger city of Eching; and Altrossheim-Ost (East Old Rossheim), with its administrative centre at the site of ancient Treisenberger town of Geschenct. Eching was further proposed as the overall administrative capital of the entire region.[1]

Reaction

International reaction to the proclamation was muted, with many countries either wholly indifferent or seemingly content to allow Mondo to proceed. There was initially some concern within the neighbouring state of Sankt Ludwigshafen, but the situation improved somewhat after a joint Mondo-Ludwiggian delegation surveyed the new boundaries and found no areas of contention.
