Aerlan Nazarene Church

The Aerlan Nazarene Church (Commonspeak: Ayrlen Nazarën Kërch) is the preeminent Nazarene church in Aerla. It is a sui iuris church that is in full communion with the Holy See of St. Natsanet of the Autocephalous Nazarene Church of Alexandria. Founded in 1705 AN as a union of several smaller churches just prior to Aerlan independence, it has taken on a unique character owing to Central Keltia's isolation from the rest of Micras for most of its history. The church serves over 13 million faithful within Aerla.
The church is renowned for it's monastic tradition, with many of the major monasteries being located in the mountainous northeast of Aerla. The conservation and restoration of the church's historic fabric is carried out by Adlerstein Architecture Works, its longstanding architectural practice based at Mount Kane.
Organization
The head of the Aerlan Church is the Patriarch of Mount Kane, who is elected by the bishops and resides in the city of Mount Kane. The current Patriarch is Stephen Pascal, who was elected in 1734 AN.
Clerical celibacy is not widely practiced in the church. However, monks and bishops selected from monasteries must remain celibate.
