The 2024 Vegnese Grand Prix, officially presented as the Formula Micras North Star Cruises Vegnese Grand Prix 2024, is a Formula Micras World Championship race that was held on 17 March 2024 at the Cossa Street Circuit, a motor racing circuit in the city of Cossa, Vegno. It served as the opening race of the 2024 Formula Micras World Championship, for the third year in a row.
It saw the victory of Max Treuenfeld on EMW Mondozoom Racing, after Pierre Deschamps had obtained pole position in his first official race in Formula Micras. Completing the podium are the two Aldurian Apex Motorsports drivers, Pierre Deschamps and Luisa Castro.
Background

The Vegnese GP was, for the third year in a row, the first inaugural race of the 2024 season, the third-ever season of Formula Micras. The race therefore took place in the home country of the Sburo Deliziosa FM Team and represented the home Grand Prix for the driver Michele Spettacolo, the only Vegnese driver of the grid.
The 2022 edition saw the triumph of Harwic Gywion, with Samira Khan and George Hunt on the podium, while the 2023 edition saw the win of the two-time world champion, Trent Cooper

Report
After an unexpected qualifying session where the newly registered Aldurian Apex Motorsports conquered the first pole position of the season with Pierre Deschamps, the race gets underway with Max Treuenfeld, starting from second place, who immediately takes the lead of the race, thanks to one better shot at the start. The Etzeland driver joins Pierre Deschamps and takes the lead before turn 1, leaving the rookie driver on the outside and having to follow. During the second lap the debutant Luisa Castro, also thanks to an excellent start and a great first lap, managed to climb up to sixth position, on medium tyre.
On the ninth lap the first twist of the race: the reigning champion and two-time world champion Trent Cooper makes a mistake in braking, locks the wheels and comes wide in turn 4 and ends up against the barriers, thus ending his race. On lap 14 the first driver to stop in the pits is Maddox Islwyn who is forced to go through the pit due to a brake overheating problem, which keeps him in the pits longer than necessary, causing him to lose a lot of time and positions. On lap 17 the pit lap begins for all the drivers who started on SuperSoft compound tyres; It's Vorgeņ Brólt who gets the ball rolling, with leader Treuenfeld following him the next lap, leaving first place to Pierre Deschamps, as well as Ben Lloyd, who had been in third place until then. However, the Mercurian driver had problems fitting the new tyres, causing him to lose a lot of time and dropping him back to 20th position. On lap 19 Treuenfeld engages in a good fight with Hunt who still had to make his pit but who doesn't give way to last season's rival; in the end the Etzeland driver passes him thanks to the higher performance tyres.
on lap 20 Pierre Deschamps also stopped, leaving the race leadership to his teammate Luisa Castro, who greatly extended the first stint, and returned behind Treuenfeld, suffering the undercut of the Mondozoom driver. Even Ottone Qualchempresario, Toshio Soma and Francesco Giocatore go to the pit, leaving room for the drivers who started with harder tyres, who lengthen the stint, not battling with each other.
Luisa Castro's pace on the medium tire is excellent, so much so that it allows him to gain a lot of time on the drivers who had already stopped but had wasted time battling with each other, demonstrating the excellent capabilities of the Adurian-Apex car; when he stops for his pit he actually falls back into third position, which he will manage to maintain until the checkered flag.
At the end of the race George Hunt and Maddox Islwyn were the only drivers forced to make a second pit stop, which relegated both to the last positions, while one lap from the finish Michele Spettacolo was overtaken by Toshio Soma for eighth position.
The race therefore ends with Treuenfeld, who wins his first victory of the season at the first race and starts the season in the best way possible, after finishing second in the drivers' standings last year. The two rookie drivers of Adurian-Apex, Pierre Deschamps and Luisa Castro, complete the podium, obtaining second and third place, demonstrating how well the Nouvelle Alexandrie team worked during last season, waiting to enter the circus this year. The result was also excellent for Yi Gao who scored 8 points in the first race, while the disappointments of the day were certainly the two Sburos, reigning constructors' champions, in 9th and 10th position, as well as Hunt, 20th at the finish line, and Islwyn , who actually finished last, ahead of only the retired Trent Cooper.
