From MicrasWiki
Jump to navigationJump to search

The membership of the Order of the Holy Lakes elected the Senate of the Lakes in November 2026. The new Senate will sit for max 12 IRL months (12 Norton years).

If one of your characters is elected to the Senate, I will invite you to the Senate discord channel where decisions are made.

Feel free to ask Ric any questions you may have!

Terminology

  • Elector: An adult character (who will turn 18, or is older, during the 1762 Norton year (i.e. November, 2026), who is alive.
    • Note that characters older than 100 years old during the year of election, or with unclear age relating to whether adult or not, have to be individually registered unless the character is clearly active in Hurmu.
    • Note that characters whose controllers have been inactive in Micras for the past 6 RL months have to individually register their electors.
    • Note that controllers for any adult characters listed as Non-elector members of the Order of the Holy Lakes have to individually register their electors if they wish to take part in the election.
  • List: Also known as faction, is the name used for political party competing in the Senate election.
  • Voter or controller: The real-life person controlling an elector (or several electors)
  • Order of the Holy Lakes: A hereditary chivalric order. Its members elect the Senate.
  • Senate of the Lakes: The collective head of state, upper legislative assembly and Supreme Court of Hurmu.

Voting

Voting occurs either

  • through a link Ric provides, or
  • through a personal message to Ric indicating how the electors in question vote

Following the completion of voting for each RL voter, Ric will provide a receipt indicating whether or not the votes are in good form. If found in good form, all is fine. If not found in good form, Ric will tell what is wrong and invite the voter to vote again.

Voting will be concluded on 6 November 21:59 GMT/UTC, but may be concluded sooner if all electors have voted before that. This corresponds to:

    • New York, peninsular Florida: 6 November 16:59 (4:59 pm)
    • UK: 6 November 21:59 (9:59 pm)
    • Sweden, Netherlands, Belgium: 6 November 22:59 (10:59 pm)
    • Thailand: 7 November 04:59 (04:59 am)
    • Philippines: 7 November 05:59 (05:59 am)

If you have voted, and you haven't received a receipt of your votes having been accepted, please contact Ric!

Apportionment

Sixteen seats are up for grabs.

In this election, we will use the same method of voting as in the last election.

  1. First, every RL person will vote with the number of electors they control. They may choose to spend all votes on one list or split their vote between two or more lists (as usual).
  2. However, a number of votes will be deducted from each person who already controls one permanent seat in the Senate. If one controls one seat, then the deduction is 1/16, if one controls 2 seats 2/16 (i.e. 1/8), and so on.
  3. Then, all votes will be slashed in half...
  4. The other half of all votes will be apportioned by how all real-life people voted, with a similar deduction as in clause 2.
