The 1718 New Alexandrian census was the fifth census conducted by the government of Nouvelle Alexandrie since its formation in 1685 AN. The census was conducted by the Department of Interior and allowed for participation online via a secure form or an app, in person, or via mail.

The census counted a total of 288,651,042 inhabitants in Nouvelle Alexandrie. The population growth was 15.30% or 38,344,005 additional inhabitants from the informal count done in 1713 AN.

Background

The last informal population count took place in 1713 AN by the Department of Interior, resulting in 250,307,037 inhabitants in Nouvelle Alexandrie. The census of 1718 AN aimed to capture the population growth due to the absorption of large territories into Nouvelle Alexandrie, including the new Region of Boriquen, continued immigration from Caputian, Wechua, and Alexandrian diasporas, Raspur Pact-born immigration, foreign-born immigration, and a high birth rate fueled by pro-natalist policies instituted by the FHP government since 1703 AN.

Questions and Format

The 1718 New Alexandrian census employed a comprehensive questionnaire that aimed to gather accurate and detailed information about the population. The questionnaire included questions about household composition, age, gender, occupation, income, education, and housing conditions, among other relevant demographic and socioeconomic factors.

To ensure maximum capture and accuracy, the census was conducted using multiple methods of data collection. Participants could choose to complete the census online using a secure form or an app on a cellular device, in person with the assistance of a census enumerator, or by submitting a printed form via mail. This multi-modal approach ensured that all residents, including those in remote areas or without access to technology, could participate in the census.

Response Rates

The response rates for the 1718 New Alexandrian census were remarkably high, reflecting the success of the diverse data collection methods employed. The use of online forms and a dedicated app significantly increased accessibility and convenience for many participants, leading to a high response rate in urban areas and among younger residents. In-person enumeration and mail-in forms were particularly useful for engaging with rural and remote populations, as well as older residents who might have been less comfortable with technology.

The Department of Interior made substantial efforts to raise public awareness of the census and emphasize its importance in shaping future policies and resource allocation. Outreach campaigns, public service announcements, and collaboration with community leaders all played a role in promoting participation and achieving high response rates across the country.

As a result of these efforts, the 1718 New Alexandrian census achieved an overall response rate of approximately 95%, demonstrating the effectiveness of the multi-modal data collection strategy and the strong engagement of the population with the census process.

Results

The results of the 1718 New Alexandrian census showcased the growth and demographic changes experienced by the Federation of Nouvelle Alexandrie. The data collected served as a valuable resource for understanding the country's population dynamics and informing future policy decisions. Detailed regional population data and changes in the distribution of the population among the various administrative divisions were also presented, allowing for a comprehensive understanding of the demographic shifts within the country.

The census counted a total of 288,651,042 inhabitants in Nouvelle Alexandrie.

Demographic changes

The total population growth since 1713 AN was substantial, considering the various factors contributing to the increase. The Region of New Luthoria, however, saw a sharp contraction in population due to the devastating eruption of Mount Broadshaw in 1715 AN-1716 AN.

The population growth was 15.30% or 38,344,005 additional inhabitants from the informal count done in 1713 AN.
