The 1743 New Alexandrian census is the tenth comprehensive census conducted jointly by the federal and regional governments of Nouvelle Alexandrie since its establishment in 1685 AN. Orchestrated by the Department of Interior, the census offered multiple ways for residents to participate, including a secure online platform, in-person interviews, and the traditional mail submission. The census found that the population of Nouvelle Alexandrie is 424,260,475, increasing 6.00% from 1739 AN.
This census marked the third consecutive census where online submission of census forms surpassed traditional methods, with over 75% of responses submitted through the secure digital platform. The collection methods continued to build upon the successful methodologies established in previous censuses, with technological improvements enhancing both security and accessibility.

Apportionment Changes
The 1743 census results, combined with the Federal Assembly Expansion Act, 1743, resulted in significant changes to the apportionment of seats in the Federal Assembly.

These changes reflect both the expansion of the Federal Assembly and the continuing demographic patterns within the Federation. The reapportionment will take effect following the next general election in 1744 AN.
Urban-Rural Population Distribution
The 1743 census confirmed the continuing urbanization trend, with 74.2% of the population residing in urban areas (compared to 71.8% in 1739 AN). However, this marks a significant slowdown in the rural-to-urban migration rate, which had averaged 0.8 percentage points per census period since 1718 AN.
The census also recorded a modest but significant trend of "counter-urbanization" in certain regions, with some middle-class urban dwellers relocating to rural communities while maintaining employment in urban centers through telecommuting arrangements, a pattern that accelerated following the Spring Crisis of 1739.
