Köniz (Sangunese: 王津 Ōtsu) is a lordship in the province of Monovia (Whales, Natopia). Its lordship is vested in Sandro Zartbitter. Located on the Eastern half of the island which is home to Bern, the lordship of Köniz is comprised of the Köniz estate, and the surrounding villages of Liebefeld and Herzwil. The total population of the lordship is around 1,500. The lordship is dominated by the Köniz estate and the neighbouring town of Köniz, whilst two smaller villages; Liebefeld and Herzwil, also exist as population centres. Liebefeld and Herzwil are two small villages, each of around 600 people, where most people in the lordship live. Liebefeld is close to the western gate of the estate, whilst Herzwil is located close to the southern gate.

Köniz estate

The Köniz estate is the home of the Sandro Zartbitter, and is centred around a large stately home, with the surrounding grounds used for shooting, hunting and recreation. On the estate also live servants, who host a market every week for the locals to sell their produce. The estate is surrounded by large walls, though the lordship extends outwards. The estate also contains a school house where local children are educated.

Transport

The lordship is connected to the neighbouring canton of Bern by two roads, as well as a public footpath. Furthermore, access to other parts of Whales can be found through the airport of Bern.

Sports

Köniz is home to FC Köniz Monovia, who play in the Zandt League and play their home games at Sportplatz Anwesen-Köniz on the edge of the Köniz estate. Despite being based in Köniz, the club enjoys considerable support amongst Saxon-speaking Martyrians and is largely considered to represent the rural Matyrians away from Volksburg.

The Köniz estate also organises skating rinks which are open for many months, which are open to locals and visitors alike. On some days, skating competitions are held, with the gentry of the state serving as a judging panel for skating partnerships.

Zartbitter has encouraged residents of the lordship to participate and engage in a variety of recreational activities, and has opened up parts of the grounds of his estate for public recreation, including cycling and walking in the summer months and sledging and skating during the winters.
