Étienne Lavoie (born 12.III.1690 AN) is a Cardinal-Priest of the Autocephalous Nazarene Church of Alexandria and the Bishop of Anglien. He is the sole cardinal from Lac Glacei and has served as Bishop of Anglien since approximately 1738 AN. Since III.1753 AN, Cardinal Lavoie has been in exile in Vegno due to the NKR insurrection and the persecution of the Alexandrian Nazarene community in his diocese. He coordinates humanitarian assistance to refugees and maintains communication with clergy who remained in Anglien.

Conclave of 1752

Following the death of Archbishop Boniface VII on 24.XV.1751 AN, Cardinal Lavoie traveled to Geneva to participate in the Conclave of 1752. He cast his vote in the election of Archbishop Boniface VIII. By the time the conclave concluded, the Nü Krantisk Rapskaff movement had begun its rise in western Lac Glacei. Lavoie departed Geneva immediately upon the conclave's conclusion, but NKR forces had established checkpoints on the approaches to Anglien by the time he reached Lac Glacei. According to accounts from clergy who escaped the canton, NKR paramilitaries were actively searching for the Cardinal, whom they regarded as a symbol of foreign religious influence. Lavoie made at least two attempts to enter the canton through secondary routes before his advisors and Archbishop Boniface VIII ordered him to establish operations in Vegno instead.

Coordination in Vegno

Since III.1753 AN, Cardinal Lavoie has directed the church's response to the persecution from Vegno, where he maintains contact with clergy who remained in Anglien. His position outside NKR-controlled territory has allowed him to coordinate humanitarian assistance to refugees fleeing through Eesdeheito, secure resources from Nouvelle Alexandrie and Natopia, and advocate directly with allied governments for intervention.

He has issued pastoral letters to the faithful calling for courage and mutual support, and has worked closely with Archbishop Boniface VIII and the Order of Our Lady of Storms and Sorrows to organize relief operations. His efforts have drawn praise from Edgard III, Titular Emperor of the Alexandrians and titular Duke of Anglien, who commended "Cardinal Lavoie for his tireless efforts on behalf of his flock" in a statement on 12.IV.1753 AN.[1] Lavoie has stated publicly that he intends to return to his cathedral "the hour it becomes possible."
