Caputian Reconnaissance of Lake Morovia

The Caputian Reconnaissance of Lake Morovia (Operation Moth) was undertaken in 1661–1662 in the aftermath of the decision of the Merrick Administration to resettle Monovian, Patrovian and Šlovedk colonists around the northern shores of Lake Morovia at its confluence with the Strait of Haifa, a narrow and strategically vital sea bisecting the Keltian continent.

Timeline

  • 18.II.1661: Prime Minister Merrick announces to Parliament his intent to secure the exclusive economic zone and territorial waters of Caputia on Lake Morovia.[1]
  • II.1661–IV.1661: Helicopter gunships of the Riverine Army, attached to VI Combined Arms Corps, begin harassment operations against vessels of the Lake Morovia Blockade Fund, hitherto targeting communities in the ungoverned territories bordering the lake.
  • 04.VII.1661: Travellers tales about mimic-vampires begin to circulate and gain currency in Haifa.
  • 08.VII.1661: The Caputian plan to colonise the northern shore of Lake Morovia becomes common knowledge after claims are lodged with international cartographic authorities.[2]
  • 14.VII.1661: A Captain Augustus Strong is ordered to assemble an independent squadron at Keybir-Aviv to await the Prime Minister's instructions.[3]
