The Batavian Confederation was an association of four Batavian-speaking countries where Batavian heritage and culture was dominant. It was established during the early reign of King Arkadius IV in an attempt to increase political and cultural power of the Kingdom of Batavia. While it was clearly meant as a way to establish an independent faction to counter influences from both Jingdao's and Shireroth's alliances, it signed early on a treaty to establish a customs union with the Imperial Republic of Shireroth (in return it received its old land back, which had been kept controlled by the Shirerithians).
